The Granadella

Playa de la Granadella has been named the best and most beautiful beach in Spain several times by the Spaniards.

The beach is a small and beautiful gravel beach in a rocky cove, located in the southernmost part of Javea. An ideal place for diving in the crystal clear waters.

CALA D'AMBOLO

Cala D'Ambolo is one of the most picturesque beaches. It is just below Mirador Ambolo accessible via Carrer Torre Ambolo. Sometimes you can't get there. Because there is a danger of falling rocks. You can walk to the pebble beach (by car via Calle Igor Stravinsky and Calle Giuseppe Verdi). Cala D'Ambola should certainly not be missing from the list “The most beautiful beaches of Jávea”.

SHUT DOWN THE WHEELS

Cala les Rotes are actually “beaches made of rocks”. It is located south of Denia, only 10 km from Jávea and can be reached via Carretera Provincial del Barranc del Monyo. You can park between restaurant Mena and restaurant Ca Nano. Cala les Rotas is actually a nature reserve. Whales are sometimes seen from here and fishing is not allowed in the area. There is a small pebble beach at the small roundabout right by Ca Nano restaurant.

FRESHWATER COVE

NUDIST BEACH

If you go a little further south from there, you will arrive at Cala de Aigua Dolç. That swimming spot is partly a nudist beach. If you take a walk from Cova Tallada to Torre del Gerro you can clearly see the difference from Mirador Las Rotas.

For walkers

Popular walking routes

There are so many hiking trails in Jávea that it is difficult to name them all.

But one thing is certain, if you like walking, Jávea is the place for your ideal holiday. There are hiking trails of different levels and durations. From a nice round with the dog to a route with more height difference and climbing. So there is something for every hiker! These routes run through beautiful nature reserves where you can enjoy nature.

From the port of Jávea there is a walk that initially involves a bit of a scramble but flattens out into a long loop around the cliff. Eventually you will arrive at Cape San Antonio or Cap De San Antonio. This is where the lighthouse is located which gives you a beautiful view of Jávea on one side and Denia on the other. It's a short walk of about a mile but can take at least 45 minutes at a slow pace. This is because it can be quite steep in places with an elevation of almost 200 meters from start to finish. If you can take the first 100 meters which are the steepest then you will have no problem with the rest.

Cape San Antonio

From Cap San Antonio there are many other walks and hikes that descend in different directions. Along the Plana you can descend to the beautiful sea caves of Cova Tallada or up the very imposing Montgo mountain. Another option is simply to head back to the port of Jávea and sit down in a cafe, bar or restaurant and relax after a rewarding walk. If you feel like climbing to the top of the Mongtó mountain of Jávea you can park at the shooting range on the Plana and walk up. Be sure to bring a packed lunch and wear good walking shoes. At the top, the Montgó is about 753m above sea level. The view from the top is breathtaking and you feel energized. It is definitely definitely worth a trip.

white cove

Do you want to experience the beauty but also want to take it easy? Then you can take a walk along the promenade at Cala Blanca. With the sea in front of you, you can enjoy the fresh sea air and the beautiful scenery. Even with those relatives who are not so physically well. If you feel energetic at the end of the path, you can take a few steps leading to a short circular walk with a view of the sea from higher up. It's a nice short walk and well worth taking friends and family who come to visit.

La Falzia Viewpoint

As you make your way to the Cabo La Nao viewpoint, there are several other viewpoints along the way. One of them is La Falzia. You can park outside and go and see the view. It can be deceiving at first as it looks just like a viewpoint, but if you turn right into the woods you can walk quite a bit through the woods and along the cliff edge. It is a nice walk and fun for children playing in the woods.

Granada Natural Park

Jávea has some beautiful nature parks including "Parque natural de la Granadella" where you can enjoy a nice walk. 1 of the routes goes to the bay of Granadella. A beautiful pebble beach that lies between two high rocks and with crystal clear water. This lovely walk to Granadella Castle starts at the beach below. This is a nice walk but keep in mind that it can easily take 4 hours. So you really should have a picnic with you so that you can take a break once you reach the castle. Well worth a visit and the walk to it takes you past beautiful landscapes and through a dry river bed.

Saint Lucia Hermitage

From just outside the old town of Jávea there is a nice little walk from the church to the Ermita San Llucia on the hill. It takes about 20 minutes up and 20 minutes down and you can walk up one way and down the other, so you've made a short loop. From Santa Llucia you have a view over most of Jávea. It's really quite spectacular.

Marine Reserve

Jávea has beautiful coves and beaches within sight of everyone but we must also emphasize the beauty of the seabed. With a coastline of 25 kilometers where you can enjoy snorkeling and underwater diving and the marine reserve. The Mediterranean Sea is a marvel for its calmness. Which allows you to enjoy the wonders hidden in it in few places. But the beauty of Jávea is not only above sea level but also on the seabed. Although it is not visible to anyone on a daily basis, yet it is available to everyone.

Cova Carved

Without a doubt, this place is ideal for snorkeling. This cave can be reached by kayak or canoe by sea or by trails through the Montgó. On the edge of the rocky mountain you can enjoy a unique seabed.

Cala Tango

Located after Cape San Antonio towards the port of Jávea. Cala Tangó is an area where you will discover the first wonders just three meters under water. In this bay you can visualize yourself next to a low point and the octopus and schools of fish.

Cala Sardinera

Cala Sardinera, although it has a bit more difficult access is a perfect place. After a 15 minute walk downhill you reach this small beach. An ideal bay for snorkeling and diving. The calm water and the absence of swimmers gives the opportunity to let the fish swim in peace in the sea. An excellent place to admire the wonders of the Mediterranean.

white cove

This cove, known as Cala Blanca, is located at the end of the coastal area of Jávea and is easily accessible. Walking through the sea you reach the second place Caleta. A beach located between rocks and mountains and is mainly frequented by small sailing boats or motor boats. The ideal place to enjoy the tranquility and the wonders of the seabed.

Barraca cove

La Cala de la Barraca or Portitxol. It is located opposite an island of the same name and has two different parts. Via a path on the left side of the beach between the rocks you will find the ideal place for snorkeling. Many different types of fish are there in schools together. It is actually an area with many very small islands.

Cala Ambolo

It has a maximum depth of six meters. In the beginning, a rocky bottom appears. Once you go deeper, a new sea world really opens up. A paradise for advanced divers and snorkelers. You prefer to explore this wonderful place with several people for your own safety.

Cova Tallada

Cova Tallada is the most impressive cave in the Costa Blanca. A real jewel that is located in Jávea not far from our villa Casa Asombrosa and that will surprise you every time. The cave itself is about 75 meters wide and about 15 meters high. Also has five large 'doors' through which the sea and light can enter.

The Cova Tallada is hollowed out and is located directly on the sea for this reason water also flows into it. The naturally formed cave was first used as a quarry during the occupation by the Moors. Traces of activity have been found dating back to the 12th century. There is also a rumor that the cave was used as a secret hideout for German submarines in World War II.

Kayak of the Soup

Another possibility is to visit the cave from the Mediterranean Sea. And this both with a Kayak and Paddle surfing. The company “Ok Adventures” offers these excursions to discover the cave in an even more adventurous way. During such an excursion you view the cave from a different point of view. There is certainly plenty of room to canoe in.

Swimming and snorkeling

In front of the cave is suitable for swimming thanks to a rocky outcrop that acts as a breakwater. The surrounding area is normally calm and ideal for snorkelling. They are shallow waters in the marine area between the Cova Tallada and a small submerged rock barrier. This area is protected against all possible waves. This is how a natural transparent swimming pool was created. Ideal for snorkeling enthusiasts who can discover and admire the beauty of the Mediterranean seabed.
